Cooling Vest for Riding

WHAT TYPE OF COOLING VEST DO YOU USE

Let’s talk about cooling vests or jackets.  I recently received an email from Larry Brandt, Assistant VP Chapter 328, about his recent trip (4232 miles) and the use of a cooling vest.  He traveled through Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, Montana, and Idaho.  He went north through Glacier National Park, which was one of my favorite rides also.  As we all know, summer heat is upon up with temperatures reaching 102 to 115 degrees on our rides.

Larry used the Ergodyne Chill-Its® 6665 Evaporative Cooling Vest

Evaporative Cooling Vest: Soak in cold water, and enjoy cooling relief and comfort.

  • V-neck with zipper closure
  • Quilted nylon outer layer
  • Activated, polymer-embedded fabric inside
  • Water-repellent liner and black cotton-poly elastic trim
  • Lightweight, durable, and washable
  • 100% nylon
  • Silver, Lime
  • M, L, XL, 2XL, 3X

Larry says the cool vest and scarf helped out of this trip, along with long sleeve tee shirt and wore his ALR Vest.  Everybody knows that Vest is HOT!  Larry says wet the vest down before you take your ride and they last 3 to 4 hours.  His vest was purchased on Amazon for $38.00 and many more can be found on-line.  Let us know what you think about a similar vest.

Remember to carry lots of water or G-Aid on your rides and stop often.
